Nestled
among the oaks and pines in Lake Vista, St. Pius X Catholic School welcomes
you to our website. Located about one mile from Lake Pontchartrain and
centrally located amidst large parks, our school campus is quite unique.
Founded in 1953, St. Pius X School works diligently to develop a strong
spiral curriculum in religion, academics, music, art, technology, language,
and athletics. Together with our dedicated faculty and parents, St. Pius X
strives to empower students to achieve spiritual and academic excellence.
St. Pius
X School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
and was named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, No Child Left Behind by
the United States Department of Education in 2007. Improvements have been
implemented to enhance our physical facilities with the addition of the
Father A. T. Screen Gymnasium, a computer lab for each of our three
divisions, and the addition of an Early Childhood Program. Beginning in
2010-2011, we will offer a half day Pre-Kindergarten 3 program in addition
to our full day Pre-Kindergarten 3 program.
Because
St. Pius X School has a significant number of strengths which characterize
the quality of the school and its capacity to support student learning, our
students are academically prepared for the challenges they will face in the
years to come. This is evident by the number of awards the school has
received along with our students and alumni such as Duke Talent
Identification Program nominees, National Merit Scholarship Awards, Rhodes
Scholars, TOPS Awards, Archdiocese of New Orleans Distinguished Graduate
Award and and one alum
named as an Archdiocese of New Orleans Associate Superintendent Secondary
Education. Over the past
25 years, St. Pius X School has had 17 valedictorian and/or salutatorian
from local high schools including seven from Jesuit High School. One St.
Pius X alumni from Jesuit was nationally recognized for receiving a perfect
test score in the 2006 National Merit Scholarship Competition.
I invite
you to visit the St. Pius X School website to see how we encourage our
students through works, actions and deeds, to prepare them for tomorrow's
challenges and most of all, to carry out our schools' patron saint motto,
St. Pius X, "to renew all things in Christ."
Thank you,
Pamela W. Fulham

SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY
Acknowledging that God is the
center of all being, St. Pius X School is dedicated to a
philosophy that is rich in Catholic beliefs and values.
In cooperation with
parents, the school strives to instill in students strong
religious, moral, and social values for living by fostering
a love of God and neighbor, a love of learning, a respect
for virtue, the ability to think constructively, to reason
independently, to accept responsibility, and to recognize
and meet the needs of others through Christian service.
Hence, the faculty
and staff of St. Pius X School endeavor to foster the
development of the spiritual, intellectual, physical,
cultural, and social behavior of the students.
To achieve these goals,
St. Pius X School strives to provide the students the
atmosphere and materials conducive toward the realization of
their potential while recognizing the need for service to
others.
A well-rounded religious
program affords students and faculty active development as
Christians.
Spiritual growth is
nurtured by participating in daily prayer, in weekly
liturgies, and in the sacraments of the Church.
St. Pius X strives to
assist through example and guidance in the formation of
productive and patriotic citizens in a safe drug-free
Catholic environment.
