Description
St. Pius X is a Catholic, co-educational Pre-Kindergarten 3 thru 7th
grade school that offers a comprehensive, challenging curriculum in a
loving, faith- filled environment. Nestled among the oaks and
pines in Lake Vista, St. Pius X is big enough to prepare today’s student
for tomorrow’s challenges and small enough, to offer students the
personalized attention they need and deserve. All students have
specialized instruction in the areas of religion, art, music, library,
computer, physical education and Spanish. St. Pius X strives to
empower each student with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to
achieve academic excellence.

month. On these days, the school is dismissed at 2:30 p.m. for faculty
meetings and/or Continuing Education.
Curriculum
St. Pius X offers a self-contained curriculum for
Pre-Kindergarten 3 thru 4th grades emphasizing multi-sensory and

departmentalized with accelerated courses offered in math and reading. All
students are able to explore their talents, both academically and socially,
through art, music, library, computer, P.E. and Spanish. Title 1 (Catapult
Learning) and Title III (Speech) are available to students through Orleans
Parish. Religion instruction, weekly Mass, daily prayers and the teaching of
Christian values nourish the spiritual development of our students.
Technology
St. Pius X is equipped with three computer labs. Each classroom is
equipped with computers, an Interactive Whiteboard, projector, and
Visual Presenter. The science lab is technology based with computers,
graphing calculators and CBL probes. This technology and its access,
provides students with a creative and innovative approach in various
research and core curriculum projects. By integrating technology
in the teaching process to provide a multi-media approach, the needs of
the varied types of learners are being addressed.
Community Service
Community Service is emphasized as an integral part of Christian service

Philosophy
Acknowledging that God is the center of all being,
St. Pius X School is dedicated to a philosophy that is rich in Catholic
beliefs and values. In cooperation with parents, the school strives to
instill in students strong religious, moral, and social values for
living by fostering a love of God and neighbor, a love of learning, a
respect for virtue, the ability to think constructively, to reason
independently, to accept responsibility, and to recognize the needs of
others through Christian service. Hence, the faculty and staff of St.
Pius X School endeavor to foster the development of the spiritual,
intellectual, physical, cultural, and social behavior of the students.
To achieve these goals, St. Pius X School strives to provide the
students the atmosphere and materials conducive toward the realization
of their potential while recognizing the need for service to others. A
well-rounded religious program affords students and faculty active
development as Christians. Spiritual growth is nurtured especially by
participating in daily prayer, in weekly liturgies, and in the
sacraments of the church. St. Pius X strives to assist through example
and guidance in the formation of productive and patriotic citizens in a
Safe Drug-Free Catholic academic environment.
