Student Council
The induction ceremony of the ten 2009-2010 Student Council
Members of St. Pius X School took place with Honorable Orleans Parish Criminal
Judge Robin Pittman giving the keynote address.
Twenty-nine hopefuls gathered for the initial Student Council
campaign meeting, where applications and rules were distributed. The hopefuls
included honor roll students, athletes, singers and performers, altar servers,
and scouts who created posters with catchy slogans and rallied support with
thoughtful campaign speeches. Second through seventh grade students voted for
the officers.
Mrs. Johanna Logan and Mrs. Robyn Miltenberger presided over the
induction of officers and representatives with the following students taking the
St. Pius X Student Council oath:

Harrison, President
·
Myles, Vice President
·
Emily, Secretary
·
Sophia, Treasurer
Homeroom Representatives include Alex, Marielle, Valencia,
Shannon, Nancy Clare, and Alaina.
Principal Pam Fulham remarked, “Each year I look forward to
the creative and caring projects our Student Council implements. Last year, the
Student Council raised money by sponsoring a Valentine’s Day candy sale. The
money was used to purchase school supplies for American Troops to distribute to
students in Afghanistan. The previous year, they purchased two bicycles for Fr.
Athanaciou in Uganda. It was an efficient way for the priest to travel and
economical and eco-friendly.”
