Ministries: Their Purpose and Contacts


Liturgy


Adult Choir:

To provide music for the liturgy and encourage congregational participation.

Altar Servers:

To prepare the altar and church before Mass and to serve the Parish in their celebration.

Eucharistic Ministers:

To assist the priest(s) in distribution of Holy Communion at all Masses.

Eucharistic Ministers to the Home Bound:
To bring the Holy Eucharist to those parishioners who are unable to attend Mass.    Contact the rectory to make arrangements.

Lectors:

To proclaim the Word of the Lord at Masses.
  Liturgical Committee:

To assist in the planning and celebration of the services of the Church through the ministries of Choir, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors & Altar Servers.

Sanctuary Society:
To care for the Church's sanctuary and sacristy by maintaining priests' vestments, altar linens, and decorations.

Ushers Society:

To take up the collections at all Masses and to assist parishioners during Mass with seating, answering questions, and in the event of illness.


Worship and Spirituality


Adoration Chapel:

To offer a Eucharistic Adoration Chapel to the parishioners of St. Pius X Parish.

Bible Study:

To read and discuss various books of the Bible, this small self-study group meets twice a month at the Parish Center.

Holy Name Society:

To promote the Holy Name of Jesus by sponsoring a monthly Mass and breakfast.
  Prayer for Vocations:

To pray for an increase in religious vocations by involving parish families who commit to take home a Chalice and pray for a designated week.

Sodality:

To spiritually educate and inspire the women members through prayers, litany, days of reflection, and other programs.

Thursday Morning Prayer Group :

To pray for our families, friends and for world peace, this ministry has been ongoing for 30 years.


Outreach


Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counseling:

To provide assistance and advice to parishioners with alcohol and drug problems.

Bereavement Committee
To offer sympathy and support to the families of deceased members of the Parish.

Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS):
(
To bring about a sense of belonging, hospitality, faith, sharing, and genuine community among mothers. This 8-week program is one of self-awareness and awakening to the spirituality of motherhood. The Elizabeth Ministry supports pregnant women.
  NAIM:
To promote the spiritual and social welfare of widows and widowers. Bridge to NAIM is a support group for the newly widowed.

Parish Twinning:
To provide ongoing assistance to our twinning Parish, St. Mary of the Angels, and to present them Christmas gifts through family or individual adoption.

St. Vincent de Paul Society:

To assist the poor with essentials of life such as food, utility, rent, clothing, and furniture. Kindness, compassion, and prayer are always included.


Education


CCD:

To provide religious education for children, grades 1 - 8, attending public and non-Catholic private schools. Class is held Saturdays at 9am.

Pre-School of Religion:

To provide 3 to 6 year-old children an opportunity to learn about God's loving ways by listening to a religious story, then participating in a craft activity pertaining to the story. Class is held from September to May on most Sundays at 10:45am, which is during the 11am Mass.
  Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults:

For those interested in becoming Roman Catholic, RCIA is the process by which non-baptized persons and baptized Christians of other denominations can become Roman Catholic.

St. Pius X School:

To advance the spiritual, intellectual, physical, cultural, and social development of students in grades Pre-K through 8.


Social


Parish Fair:

To provide the Parish and school with both a fun activity as well as financial support. This year the Fair will be held on Sunday, April 22.

St. Pius X Mothers' Club: 2007-2008

To serve as a social, service, and spiritual organization for the mothers of the St. Pius X school and parish-wide community.  This organization strives to promote Catholic Church through its activities.

liaison between students, teachers, principals, and the Parish, this ministry also assists with special events within the Parish.

St. Pius X Players:

To encourage families to play together as well as pray together. One production a year during the summer.  Open to all who want to participate and have fun. Photos

  Single & Single Again:

To encourage social, service, and spiritual involvement for single and divorced members of the Parish.

Supper & Substance:
To offer married couples a night out, with candlelight supper and inspirational speaker.   Refer to the parish bulletin for schedule

Youth Sports Programs:

To encourage social, service, sports and spiritual involvement for youth in the Parish, ages 12 - 18,

Our Mission

As a family of Roman Catholic believers inspired by the motto of St. Pius X, "to renew all things in Christ," we, the parish of St. Pius X, adopt this as our mission. We answer this call to holiness through knowing, loving, and serving God and one another.
