St. Pius X Parish includes territory that
was originally part of three parishes: Our lady of the Rosary, St.
Dominic and St. Frances Cabrini. The Lake Vista area was a mission
of Holy Rosary with Mass being offered each Sunday in the Community
Center from 1949 until 1952, when Bishop P. Abel Caillouet, pastor
of Holy Rosary, contracted to build a combined auditorium/classroom
building. Completed in 1953, this new building became the church,
school and rectory for a new parish established in September 1953,
with Father Michael Killoughey as pastor. The Lakeshore area, which
had been part of the St. Dominic parish, and the Lake Terrace area,
which had been part of St. Frances Cabrini, were added to Lake Vista
to comprise St. Pius. The new parish school was opened in September
1953 with another school building added in 1956. The parish rectory
was built in 1955. Father Killoughey was succeeded as pastor by
Msgr. Arthur T. Screen. Msgr. Screen was succeeded by our current
pastor, the Rev. Msgr. Clinton J. Doskey. The permanent parish
church was dedicated by Archbishop Phillip Hannan on May 1, 1966.

OUR
MISSION
As a family of Roman Catholic
believers inspired by the motto of St. Pius X, "to renew all things
in Christ", we, the parish of St. Pius X, adopt this as our mission.
We answer this call to holiness through knowing, loving and serving
God and one another.

NEWS &
ANNOUNCEMENTS
A MESSAGE FROM MSGR. DOSKEY

Last month I had a meeting with Archbishop Hughes.
We discussed my future, especially my retirement as pastor of St.
Pius X. We agreed that I would retire on June 30. He was further in
agreement that I would remain in residence at St. Pius X with Father
Pat. I am most grateful for all that each and every one of you has
done for me throughout these past 18 years. They have been happy
years and I would like to express my appreciation to you for them.
